Excalibur Drilling Ltd.   

Excalibur Drilling Ltd. was formed as a private Canadian Corporation in 1994. The company owns and operates nine telescopic double drilling rigs and operates primarily in Alberta and western Saskatchewan.

Excalibur has constructed nine new rigs since 1994. These rigs are capable of drilling directional, horizontal and under-balanced wells to a depth of 3500+ metres and vertical wells to a TVD of 2500 metres.

The company has, since its inception, attained rig utilization that is consistently among the highest in the drilling industry. Excalibur has received industry recognition for its safety record in every fiscal year since its inception from the Canadian Association of Drilling Contractors.

Our management group is composed of the following people:

Dennis Hemsing

President - Brooks Office

Dennis has been in the drilling industry for over thirty years and has extensive contract drilling experience. His experience includes co-ownership in Hemsing Drilling Ltd. (1975-86), Paragon Drilling Ltd. (1987-94) and Excalibur Drilling Ltd. (1994-present).

Robert Block   

General Manager - Brooks Office

Rob has over thirty years of rig operational and rig management experience. His experience includes co-ownership of Paragon Drilling Ltd. (1987-94) and Excalibur Drilling Ltd. (1994-present).

Kevin Rockabar 

Contracts Manager - Calgary Office

Kevin has over thirty years of drilling experience, which includes 5 years as a Rig Manager before moving into the Calgary office to handle contracts for Excalibur Drilling Ltd. He has been with us since May of 1996.

Andy Wurtz 

Operations Manager - Brooks Office

Andy has over thirty years of rig operational and rig management experience. He has been with Excalibur Drilling Ltd. since November of 1994. Andy was the Rig Manager on Excalibur Rig 1 when it left the yard in May of 1995.  Andy came to the Brooks office as Operations Manager in 2001.

Brett Martin 

Field Superintendent - Brooks Office

Brett started as a Driller with Excalibur Drilling in 2001 and over the next 10 years worked as a Driller, Relief Rig Manager and became a permanent Rig Manager in 2005.  In January  2011, Brett came into the Brooks office as Field Superintendent.  He Brings 21 years of field experience to his job as Excalibur's Field Superintendent.

Roger McLeod (CRSP)

Manager, Safety & Environment - Calgary Office

Roger brings over thirty years of Petroleum Industry Safety and Loss Prevention experience, including 20 years with the Alberta Energy Utilities Board, Alberta OH&S and the BC Ministry of Petroleum Resources. He is a member of the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals and Society of 

Safety Engineers, as well as a EnForm Certified Auditor, Instructor, IRP#16 Training Administrator and 2nd Line Well Control Supervisor. He has been with Excalibur Drilling Ltd. since June of 2003.

Wayne Sinclair (C.A.) 

Controller - Brooks Office

Wayne has over thirty-five years of accounting and financial experience. This includes several years as Chartered Accountant in the private business sector and co-ownership of Excalibur Drilling Ltd (1994-present).

Linda Conners  

Office Manager - Brooks Office

Linda has been with Excalibur Drilling Ltd. since October of 1995. She brings many years of experience in the public accounting field to her position as Office Manager.

Arlene Penner  

Payroll Administrator - Brooks Office

Arlene has over twenty years experience in payroll and accounting working in both public and private businesses. She has been with Excalibur Drilling Ltd. since June of 2005.

Erin Ralph

Contracts Administrator - Calgary Office

Erin joined the Excalibur team in June 2007. She brings several years of experience in the financial industry to her position of Contracts Administrator.

Lawrence Block

Personnel Manager - Brooks Office

Lawrence has been with Excalibur Drilling Ltd. since December 1998 and brings with him several years of experience in the oil and gas industry.

Dean Bryant

Shop Foreman - Brooks Office

Dean started with Excalibur Drilling Ltd. as a Derrickhand in 1998, before moving into the Brooks office as Shop Foreman in 2003.  He and brings with him several years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
